Simplify Discipleship with this Easy-to-Follow Multi-Study Journey

The first two series in the Essentials of Faith journey are now live.

Discipleship is the heartbeat of the church, yet many church leaders feel overwhelmed by the demands of implementing a discipleship program effectively. That’s why we’re excited to launch Essentials of Faith—a transformative twelve-study journey designed to deepen Christians’ understanding of the gospel and address fundamental questions of our faith.

Essentials of Faith offers straightforward teaching that makes Christian concepts easy to grasp, helping people grow in their faith without feeling overwhelmed. It provides a clear pathway to spiritual maturity, supporting your church’s discipleship efforts and helping Christians become confident, mature followers of Jesus.

Characteristics of a Disciple

Disciples grow in their relationship with Jesus in a way that transforms how they think and act, becoming more like Jesus over time. Four key practices define disciples:

Believing the gospel
Engaging the Bible
Participating in the Church
Living missionally

Roadmap for Discipleship

Over the next three years, RightNow Media will release twelve series with teachers like Francis Chan, J.D. Greear, Derwin Grey, Lisa Harper, and more that address fundamental questions of our faith. Our hope is that, after going through the Essentials of Faith series, Christians will be more mature, equipped to disciple others and emboldened to reflect Christ in their lives.

Phase 1
Fall 2024–Spring 2025

This phase introduces Christians to the basics of the gospel, the Bible, and the church. By the end of Phase 1, Christians should grasp the central message of the gospel, know who Jesus is and why he matters, what the Bible is and why it matters, and what the church is and why it matters.

Phase 2
Fall 2025–Spring 2026

This phase takes the concepts from Phase 1 and takes them deeper. It covers the gospel at a more theological level (covering salvation, justification, sanctification, etc.), the story of the Bible, why we participate in the church, and how Christians should act in the world. By the end of Phase 2, Christians should know the whys and hows of the gospel, be able to explain the broad story of the Bible, participate in their local church, and see their habits, actions, and attitudes transform to be more like Christ’s.

Phase 3
Fall 2025–Spring 2026

This phase takes the ideas from the previous two phases and helps Christians apply them. It explores the Trinity, how to read the Bible, the hope of the church, and how to live on mission. By the end of Phase 3, Christians should have a firm grasp on who God is on a theological and relational level, feel equipped to read the Bible on their own, be prepared to endure difficulty in community, and be ready to make disciples.
